SANGHAR, May 4: The police are conducting raids to arrest the owner of a banana orchard in which the recent encounter between bandits and the police took place.
The orchard owner, Mohammad Saleh Waryah, is absconding since Wednesday when the 80-hour-long encounter began.
So far, the police have arrested Saleh’s brother, Mohammad Usman Waryah, tractor driver Gul Hassan Khoso and two estate managers, Mohammad Hassan Junejo and Inayat Saleh, on suspicion of harbouring the bandits. No FIR has been registered against them.
Meanwhile, relatives of none of the killed bandits turned up to claim the bodies, except for the maternal grandmother of Ali Mohammad Oderai who came on Sunday with two other women to the Tando Adam police station but no officer concerned was present to hand over the body to her.
Oderai, Rahzan Khoso, Ali Hassan Rind, Haji Khoso, Adam Rind alias Golo and another unidentified bandit were killed in the encounter near the Saleh Waryah village, Tando Adam taluka.
ACCIDENT: Five persons were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck on Bhit Shah Road on Sunday.
Those injured were identified as Aftab Pirzado, Nasrullah Rajput, Islami Detho, Umer Detho and Bachayo Detho.
