LARKANA, May 9: A bomb went off in the classroom of the Government High School, Qambar, on Thursday.

The sound of the blast, which occurred near the school’s science hall and created a two-foot-wide crater, was heard in most parts of Qambar spreading panic across the town.

The windows, walls and ceiling of the classroom sustained extensive damage due to the impact of the explosion but no one was injured as the school was closed. Qambar-Shahdadkot Deputy Commissioner Tahir Sangi and personnel of the police, Rangers and bomb disposal squad rushed to the scene and inspected the site soon after the blast.

SSP of the area said it was the locally made bomb weighing half a kilogram, adding that the night watchman of the school and two other persons had been taken into custody for interrogation.

Nawabshah SSP Ghulam Sarwar Bhayo told reporters that the activity was just to spread panic and fear among people.
