LAHORE, May 19: President Asif Ali Zardari, who arrived here from Islamabad on Sunday afternoon on a two-day visit, would preside over a meeting of the Punjab PPP leaders on Monday.
President Zardari attended a dinner hosted by the South Asia Free Media Association.
A rumour was doing the rounds in the city that Mr Zardari would visit PTI Chairman Imran Khan who is being treated in the Shaukat Khanum Hospital for injuries he suffered from a fall during an election rally.
But Imran Khan has reportedly shown little interest in receiving the president.
Presidential spokesman Senator Farhatullah Babar said Mr Zardari was not scheduled to visit the hospital.—Staff Reporter

Lahore High Court should serve contempt of court notice to Mr. Zardari.

No point in being an uninvited guest. IK is not being arrogant, merely practising what he preaches by keeping his distance from the epicentres of corrupt politics. No other politician has been neither honest to himself nor to the people. There is the corrupt and the Mafia system that want the country to stay stagnant in the current mire, and than there is IK and PTI, single handedly confronting the corrupt monolith to change it for good and bring power back to the people. This is history playing in slow motion

Why is Zardari allowed to continue with PPP affairs whilst still in office which in my view is conflict of interest? He is privy to sensitive information which could be used by his party for its own purposes. A President should be a neutral person not affiliated to any party especially a Co-Chairman of a political party who is openly managing the affairs of a party even if he is performing these affairs away from the Presidency as per Apex court. It doesn't happen in other countries so why openly in Pakistan?

And I thought that a president is supposed to be above party affiliations and party politics.
