Diarrhea outbreak in Sindh kills four children in Sindh

KARACHI: At least four children have died of diarrhea in Sindh, provincial Secretary Health department Dr Suresh Kumar told Dawn.com on Thursday.

Talking to Dawn.com the provincial health department's secretary said that since the beginning of this year 20,993 cases of diarrhea had been reported in the province so far and that 581 children were admitted in various hospitals for treatment.

One child died in the province's Sanghar and Khairpu districts in Thursday whereas another two died in Tharparkar area.

At least 362 diarrhea cases have been reported in Hyderabad till today.

Director public health Dr Masood Solangi said that diarrhea cases were being reported from various areas of the province and transmission of the disease was suspected through the consumption of contaminated water.

He added that the hospitals where the diarrhea patients were undergoing treatment had been supplied with relevant medicines.
