MINGORA, May 28: The son of local activist of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was killed and he and his four family members were injured in a remote-controlled blast in Baishbanr, some 18 kilometres from the district headquarter Mingora on Tuesday morning.
Police and residents said that Mian Sher Ali, local PML-N activist, was on way from his hometown Baishbanr to Kishwara near Mingora along with his family members to offer fateha for DSP Khan Bahadar, who was killed in a roadside blast in Poran, Shangla, on Monday.
They said that when Sher Ali’s double-cabin vehicle reached near Reverse Mor a remote-controlled bomb planted by miscreants on the roadside went off. As a result, Barkat Ali, son of Sher Ali, was killed on the spot while five of the family members, including Sher Ali, his wife Bakht Siraja, Mohammad Amin and his wife Sherzadgai and Mian Anwar Ali sustained injuries. They were taken to DHQ hospital Saidu Sharif where their condition was stated to be stable.
The sources said that Sher Ali was a member of village defence committee, but police denied this, saying he had no links with the committee. The police, however, confirmed that Sher Ali was a local PML-N leader.
According to reports, over 23 suspected people have been arrested during search operation following the attack. —Correspondent
