Chief Justice takes suo motu notice of Gujrat tragedy

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took suo motu notice of the tragic explosion in a school van in the outskirts Gujrat on May 25 which had claimed the lives of at least 15 children, DawnNews reported.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry taking notice of the tragic incident fixed June 4 as the date of hearing over the case.

He also sought reports from Secretary Petroleum, Chief Secretary of Punjab,Punjab’s Secretary of transport department, Inspector General of Punjab police, and the administration of the concerned school.

At least 15 children and a teacher were burned to death in a village near Gujrat on Saturday when a faulty fuel system caused an explosion in a van which was transporting them to school.
