KARACHI, May 31: The chief justice of Sindh High Court (SHC), Mushir Alam, on Friday said that the newly elected government might not complete its tenure if political expediencies were given preference.

He was addressing a full court reference held at the Sindh High Court for the lawyers who died, or were murdered in the city.

The chief justice said that faceless perpetrators were involved in atrocities in Karachi.

Unfortunately, member of the legal fraternity who were bastion for justice were also being targeted in Karachi, he said.

The chief justice was of the opinion that if we did not strive to uphold justice, future generations would suffer.

Commenting on the issue of missing persons, the chief justice said that missing persons were being picked up from the city and kept in internment in Fata and other cites beyond territorial jurisdiction of the court.

He was of the opinion that in such critical situation, responsibility was on state counsels to uphold truth.—PPI
