MQM to observe 'day of mourning' on Thursday

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Wednesday announced that it would observe a "peaceful day of mourning in Sindh" on Thursday in protest of the abduction and killing of four of its supporters.
In a statement issued here today, the MQM's Rabita (Coordination) Committee has appealed to traders, businessmen and transporters in Sindh to keep their businesses shut on Thursday in protest of illegal abduction, violence and target killings, extortion practices and death threats, especially in Karachi.
Earlier Wednesday, police had recovered four bullet-riddled bodies from Jam Goth in the Malir area of Karachi. The four had been kidnapped from Landhi area before being gunned down.
On Tuesday, the MQM had also filed a constitutional petition in the Sindh High Court seeking whereabouts of 'missing party workers'. Petitioner Dr Farooq Sattar as many as nine party workers had been kidnapped by Rangers and police during the past four months.

I am sick of MQM and it's strikes,hartaals,day of mournings etc etc. Observe your days at your own expense without disturbing and shutting down entire Karachi.

I find it amazing and shocking that huge number of days are lost in Karachi the hub of business for the whole of Pakistan. Does MQM leader who continues to sit nicely in London realise that by calling ' day of mourning' or strikes is costing huge sums of money to a bankrupt economy. How does Altaf Hussain expect people to survie if every second day there is a strike or a day of mourning. How many days Altaf Hussain has gone without food, clothing or basic necessaties for survival? None. It's time that people of Pakistan especially Karachirites stand up and stop striking and move forward.

Which loss are you talking about --the MQMs or the economy's? The same forces would bear the 'loss' that have been doing so over the years-- i.e. the hapless people of this country. As for compensation, who cares? The rulers of this country simply don't have the capability to solve any problem. They are dumb, deaf and blind when it comes to solving the country's problems, but they are smart and agile when it comes to looting and plundering the country's resources for themselves and their progeny. So wait and see. The only change we have had is change of of faces at the top!

Shame on you Altaf Hussain - Just read the blogs and you will find your answer how many people likes you and figure it out where you and party stands? No one has sympathy for MQM any more. About killing of your party workers, they were targeted by your rival groups coz they have also killers and now its time to pay... By calling strike, you and your party is doing nothing but punishing poor and innocent people of Karachi.. I don't think anyone who lives in Karachi have any kind of sympathy for you and your party.. you guys are done for good.

You are right, I agree with you 100%. I think Altaf Hussain give order from London to close every thing make the city look like Ghost town.
trders close the stores, all transportation stop. Specially daily bread earners starve to death, and the family members go without food.
