GUJRANWALA, June 12: The election commission on Wednesday cancelled the election result of the NA-103 constituency, Hafizabad due to rigging and announced fresh election.

The election commission also ordered registration of cases against Hafizabad district election commissioner Abdul Ghaffar and 37 presiding officers.

Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) candidate Liaquat Abbas Bhatti defeated Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Shaukat Ali Bhatti with a margin of 600 votes in the May 11 general election.

The PML-N candidate moved the election commission against the rigging by the district election commissioner and presiding officers. An inquiry upheld his charges against the election officials.

Gujranwala district election commissioner Amir Javed confirmed the news.
