CHARSADDA, June 13: Two girls were killed and more than 24 people sustained injuries in different areas as windstorm wreaked havoc in the district on Thursday evening.

Local residents said that nine-year-old Mah Noor was killed while her two sisters, a brother and mother suffered wounds when their house collapsed due to windstorm in Prang area of Charsadda.

In Sheikhan Kallay of Omarzai, 14-year-old Raheela was killed when wall of their house fell on her.

Local residents and officials said that 24 persons, most of them children, who suffered injuries due to windstorm, were brought to the district headquarters hospital of Charsadda.

Four of the injured persons were referred to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar in precarious condition, they added.

The windstorm disrupted supply of electricity and communication system in the district as it uprooted trees, electric poles and signboards. Roofs and boundary walls of several houses collapsed.

Some of the injured were identified as Nisar Mohammad of Paindakhel, Waqar of Babra, Wiqar of Charsadda Bazaar, Mohabat Khan of Babra, Ihtesham of Station Koroona and Nishat.
