LAHORE, June 18: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhry and Secretary-General Dr Yasmin Rashid have condemned the suicide attack on a funeral gathering in Shergarh, Mardan, on Tuesday and expressed grief over the death of innocent people.

They blamed reaction stemming from war on terror and drone attacks behind the deaths. They demanded that the provincial government take measures to protect life and property of residents. They also called for resolving issues through dialogues instead of using power.

BUDGET: Mr Chaudhry and Dr Yasmin said the Punjab government should learn from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s budget wherein budget for education had been increased by six times, while health budget had been doubled.

They said the PML-N government in the centre and the Punjab had pushed poor masses against the wall with its anti-people budget.

REVIEW MEETING: The PTI’s review meeting to discuss party performance in May 11 general election for South Region’s Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Layyah and Lodhran will be held at party’s Punjab secretariat on Wednesday (today).

PTI ticket-holders and applicants will attend the meeting.

WOMEN’S WING: PTI Punjab Women’s Wing President Salooni Bukhari has criticised the Punjab government for its anti-people budget. She said the Punjab government did not give any relief to masses in its budget for 2013-14.

Speaking at a women’s wing meeting secretary information Shabnum Jahangir’s residence on Tuesday, Ms Bukhari said the budget had drastically affected housewives.

She said the PTI was fighting to help poor masses get their due rights. The PTI Women’s Wing office-bearers attended the meeting.
