LAHORE, June 25: Lahore and Sialkot have qualified for the final of the 3rd Prof Syed Fida Hussain Shah PHF Inter-academy Hockey Championship at the Iqbal Khan Hockey Stadium, Abbottabad on Tuesday after winning their respective semi-finals.

A 38th minute field goal by Aqib Afzal helped Lahore edge out Faisalabad 2-1 in the first pre-final.

M. Mateen put Lahore 1-0 ahead in the 29th minute, converting a short corner.

One minute later Abu Baker fired the equaliser, also cashing in on a penalty corner, before Aqib struck the winner in the 38th minute.

Two-goal Faizan enabled Sialkot to earn 3-1 win against Peshawar in the second semi-final.

Faizan found the net in the second minute, converting a penalty stroke and then he capitalised a short corner in the 33rd minute.

One minute later, Fareed Ahmed banged home third goal for the winners.

Earlier, Nabeel had scored the solitary goal for the losing side in the eighth minute.

The final will be played on Wednesday. Earlier, Peshawar and Faisalabad will play the third position match.
