ISLAMABAD, June 27: The bodies of eight out of the 10 foreign tourists killed by militants at the Nanga Parbat base camp on Saturday night were handed over to their respective embassies here on Thursday.

However, the bodies of one Nepalese and a US national of Chinese origin are still lying in the mortuary of the Federal Government Services Hospital (Polyclinic) and the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).

Dr Tanveer Hussain Malik, the medico-legal officer of Polyclinic, told Dawn that six bodies of Ukrainian, Lithuanian and Slovakian nationals were handed over to the diplomats of their respective countries who came to the hospital accompanied by officials of the Interior Ministry and the Foreign Office.

The bodies kept at Polyclinic mortuary were identified as Sona Sherpa from Nepal, Anton Dobes and Peter Sperka from Slovakia, Ernestas Mark of Lithuania and Konyayev Dmytro, Kash Badavi and Svergen Ijor from Ukraine.
