SWABI: Three policemen including a station chief were injured Saturday when a bomb exploded close to their vehicle in Swabi district of restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The police mobile van in which the three policemen were travelling was targeted by a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) near a graveyard near Government Degree College Shewa, said District Police Officer Mian Saeed.

Azhar Shah, the SHO of Swabi Police Station, was returning from the college where he had appeared for his BA exam when his vehicle was attacked, said police.

Shah was injured along with two constables travelling in the mobile van with him.

A passerby woman was also injured in the blast, which destroyed the vehicle. The injured were being treated at a local hospital, while one of the wounded was shifted to a hospital in Peshawar.
