KOHAT, July 3: Electricity supply to 13 refugee camps in Kohat has been disconnected for non-payment of dues worth Rs40 million, officials said on Wednesday.

They said that the administration of refugee camps failed to clear the outstanding dues despite repeated reminders.

The officials said that electricity was supplied to nine Afghan refugee camps from rural sub-divisions and to four camps from the College Town sub-division. The power supply to the camps would be restored only when the dues are cleared, they said.

TOWER DESTROYED: Unknown militants blew up a tower of a cellular phone company in Togh Sarai area of Hangu district in the wee hours of Wednesday, sources said.

They said that the militants planted improvised explosive devices around the four pillars of the tower and blew it up. As a result, the tower was completely destroyed.

Hangu police have registered the case against unknown militants.

MAN KILLED: A carpenter was killed and two others were injured when roof of his shop fell on them here on Wednesday.

Police said that the roof collapse incident occurred in Jawaki Banda on Kohat-Hangu road and as a result the carpenter, Taza Gul, was buried alive under it.

His two friends, including Badshah Khan and Hameed Khan, were injured in the incident. They were taken to DHQ hospital, Kohat, where their condition was reported to be stable.
