RAWALPINDI, July 9: Unprecedented security arrangements were made on the expected appearance of former president Gen (retired) Pervez Musharraf before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in connection with the Benazir Bhutto murder case here on Tuesday.
As many as 300 police personnel in addition to the army and Rangers were deployed along the route and at the ATC court.
Besides, two reserves of Punjab Constabulary were called from Sargodha to assist the local police.
According to police sources, the deployment of the police, Rangers and the army was made at 6am and later it was closed at around 9:30am after it emerged that the former president would not appear before the court.
The sources said sharpshooters were deployed on the rooftops of buildings along the route.
The security arrangements were supervised by the SP security, SP headquarters, SP CIA, SP Rawal division and SP Potohar while three DSPs security, New Town and Gujar Khan were looking after the route security. In addition, eight police inspectors were assisting these senior officers.
A senior police official said 350 police and security personnel had been deployed on the occasion.
