Dr Khwaja Ali Shahid compiles a timeline of doctors targeted and killed since Jan 1, 2012-to-date.

Jan 7, 2012: Dr Syed Jamal, senior cardiologist; kidnapped from Hayatabad in November 2011; body found in Khyber Agency. Believed to be sectarian killing.

Jan 28, 2012: Dr Syed Jafar Mohsin Rizvi, general physician and trustee of an Imambargah. Targeted and killed in Karachi. Believed to be sectarian killing.

Jan 31, 2012: Dr Ashfaq Ahmed Qazi, dermatologist, targeted and killed in Karachi. No religious/political association was found.

April 29, 2012: Beheaded body of kidnapped Dr Khalil Asjed Dale working for British Red Cross was found in Quetta. He was abducted by militants on Jan 5, 2012.

May 30, 2012: Dr Aftab Qureshi, neurosurgeon, kidnapped from Karachi and killed during an exchange of fire between police and kidnappers in Hyderabad.

July 2, 2012: Dr Ibrahim Shah, killed in Nawabshah.

July 20, 2012: Dr Muhammad Ishaq, working for drive against polio by World Health Organisation, killed in Karachi.

Aug 2012: Dr Haider Ali kidnapped from Margat, Bolan, 40 days before being killed. A note found in his pocket claimed he was killed because he worked for the military intelligence.

Aug 24, 2012: Dr Jamil Sindhu murdered in Bahawalnagar, personal issues suspected.

Sept 17, 2012: Dr Shahzad Iqbal in Karachi, employee of Sindh Government Hospital, Orangi Town. Personal enmity suspected.

Oct 6, 2012: Dr Abdul Hamid Shahwani in Mastung.

Oct 8, 2012: Dr Dawood Aziz Jan in Khuzdar.

Nov 4, 2012: Dr Muhammad Amin in Islamabad, a pathologist who shifted to Islamabad from Swat. Personal enmity suspected.

Nov 12, 2012: Dr Nisar Sehto in Karachi, resident medical officer under Sindh government at the Lyari General Hospital, killed in his private clinic.

Nov 29, 2012: Dr Iqbal Hussain and his wife Dr Dilshad Fatima in Karachi.

Dec 12, 2012: Dr Lakhmi Chand in Mastung, Balochistan.

Dec 12, 2012: Dr Zubair in Karachi, joint secretary of the youth wing of Bengali Action Committee.

Jan 9, 2013: Dr Syed Riaz Hussain Shah, president of PPP-Kurram in Peshawar killed on sectarian/political grounds.

Jan 22, 2013: Dr Syed Hasan Alam, MS, Sindh Government Hospital in Karachi killed in sectarian grounds.

Jan 22, 2013: Dr Shahnawaz Ali Akhunzada, eye specialist in Peshawar; suspected sectarian grounds.

Jan 28, 2013: Dr Abdur Rasheed in Karachi

Feb 2, 2013: Dr Muhammad Ismail Suria in Karachi. Jamaat-i-Islami claimed him to be their worker.

Feb 7, 2013: Dr Mirza Abid Baig in Karachi; targeted sectarian killing near his clinic.

Feb 11, 2013: Dr Tehseenullah Safi in Peshawar.

Feb 18, 2013: Dr Syed Ali Haider professor and chair man of ophthalmology department, Lahore General Hospital, sectarian motive suspected.

Mar 19, 2013: Dr Asad Usman, senior physician Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in Karachi.
