GUJRAT, April 20: Seven members of a family drowned in the Jhelum near Chak Daulat village on Saturday.
Reports said two women of a family were busy in washing clothes along the river bank whereas male members and children were also present there. Suddenly water flow increased as a result Safdar, his wife Maroof Bibi, Saiqa Bibi, wife of Akhtar, Faiza Safdar, Naeem Safdar, Javed and Waqar drowned in the river.
Rescuers have recovered four bodies and are searching for the rest.
Villagers alleged that they had not been informed about release of water from Mangla Dam.
