KARACHI, April 30: Jalil Khan, a former Davis Cup member of Pakistan team, made his presence felt while routing Nazif Ahmed 6-1, 6-0 to surge in the men’s singles of Sindh Open ranking tennis championship at Karachi Gymkhana on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, there was a walkover galore in the men’s singles as four players failed to show up for their fixtures giving their opponent’s a chance to advance without playing the match.

Men’s singles: First round: Jalil Khan bt Nazif Ahmed 6-1, 6-0; Abdul Rehman bt Asif Bachani (walkover); Fahim Ramzan bt Abdulllah Khan 6-4, 6-2; Salman Butt bt Amin Gul (Hyderabad) (walkover); Vinod Das bt Abdul Majeed (walkover); Yasir Khan bt Nawab Muzaffar (walkover).

Quarter-finals: Yasir Khan bt Salman Butt 6-2, 2-0 (retied).

Juniors’ under-17 singles: Second round: Talha Zubair Surmawala bt Sahibzada M. Ali 6-1, 6-0; Aqeel Shabbir bt Adeel Nadeem (walkover); Murad Khan bt Ali Mohammad 6-0, 6-1; Maheen Dada bt Hania Naveed 6-0, 6-0.

Quarter-finals: M. Rara Sawani bt Hassan Veqar 6-0, 6-4; Ibrahim Iltifat bt Dawar Rehan 7-5, 6-4.

Boys and girls under-15 singles: First round: M. Ahmed Ehtisham bt Bilal (Hyderabad) walkover.

Second round: Saad Mohammad Ali bt M. Ahmed Ehtisham 6-2, 6-3; Ameer Hamza bt Jalaluddin Babar walkover.

Quarter-finals: Dawar Rehan bt Shabbir Mohammad 6-2, 6-1; Nazif Ahmed bt Amin Shafi 6-0, 6-2; M. Raza Sawani bt Ameer Hamza 6-0, 6-0.

Boys and girls under-13 singles: First round: Ajay Kumar bt Kinza Ghanchi 7-5, 3-6, 10-7; Rayyan Jawwad bt Samad Zeeshan (Hyderabad) walkover.
