LAHORE, May 3: Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) secretary Iqbal Hussain has categorically said that there is no parallel boxing body and advised his detractors to refrain from creating confusion.
Addressing a news conference here on Friday, the PBF secretary said that since the elections, held on Dec 20, 2012, had not only been accepted by the Pakistan Olympic Association but also by the International Boxing Federation, there was no room for claiming any parallel body.
Iqbal said that only one Akram Khan was trying to hoodwink people by claiming representation of a separate body, adding that anyone would be allowed to organise tournaments, but with the permission of the federation.
The secretary also denied that any parallel body had been formed at Punjab level.
Announcing activities of the PBF, Iqbal said that a national ranking tournament would be held in Hyderabad this month while Lahore would host the national championships next month.
Moreover, Pakistan would also send a team to take part in the Light Boxing championship scheduled to be held in Jordan in June apart from featuring in the China Open scheduled to be held in July, added Iqbal.
Besides, the national team would also take part in the international tournament in Taiwan in August before reaching Kazakhstan to take part in the World championship scheduled for October.
