Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim addressed a press conference late night, congratulating voters, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) team, the law enforcement agencies and army and others on the successful conducting of elections.

Declaring them free and fair elections, he said the only constituency where polls were held today and where re-polling is to take place is in NA-250. He said the reasons that warranted this re-polling will be examined in detail.

In addition, he said that almost 60 % of registered voters came out to vote -- a large leap from the last elections' voter turnout.

As the camera cut at the end of his speech, Ebrahim was heard saying, "It's a day to celebrate".
