PPP sweeps Nawabshah

In Nawabshah, Pakistan Peoples Party won both national assembly seats and five provincial assembly seats. President Asif Ali Zardari's sister, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, won on Nawabshah-I NA-213 for the third consecutive time, beating her MQM rival. In In NA-214 Nawabshah-II, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah of PPP also won the seat for the third consecutive time, beating his PML-N opponent.

At the same time, the deputy commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad has approached the Sindh home department seeking permission and assistance for deployment of the army in Nawabshah city after law and order took a downturn Saturday onwards - a clash took place between PPP and MQM, leading to three people losing their lives. This includes two MQM workers. More than 12 were injured in the clashes over the last 24 hours. Firing by different groups continued to take place in different parts of the city.
