QUETTA: At least seven people were killed and nine others injured in three different acts of violence in Balochistan on Monday.

Fayyaz Sumbal, the Deputy Inspector General Police Quetta told Dawn.com armed militants opened fire on a yellow cab in Qandahari Bazar area of Quetta.

He said two persons from the Hazara community were killed on the spot, whereas one passerby sustained wounds.

"The militants sped away from the spot," Sumbal said. He said the incident was an act of sectarian targeted killing.

Shopkeepers pulled down shutters after the incident in Qandahari Bazar, the commercial hub of Quetta.

At least two people were killed and eight injured in a blast near Pak-Afghan border Chaman.

A levies official, who requested not to be named, told Dawn.com that unknown miscreants planted explosives near Custom House and FIA check post Chaman.

He said two people were killed and were injured in the explosion that rocked the entire bordering town. The blast was heard far and wide, which caused panic in Quetta city.

The blast partially damaged nearby offices in the area. Security was tightened at Pak-Afghan border Chaman at friendship gate after the explosion.

In a third incident, three mutiliated dead bodies were found in Balochistan's troubled district of Dera Bugti.

Levies officials said police found three dead bodies in Sangsila area of Dera Bugti.

The dead bodies were shifted to nearby hospital for postmortem. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
