Two killed in Quetta violence

QUETTA: Gunmen killed two persons and injured another in two seperate incidents of firing in Quetta on Tuesday night, police said.

Officials said armed men opened fire at a shop on Moti Ram road area of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province. Two persons inside the shop were seriously wounded.

One of them later succumbed to injuries on the way to civil hospital. The assailants sped away from the spot. Police and frontier corps personnel reached the spot as an investigation into the incident is now underway.

In another incident, armed men opened fire on a person in Sariab road area of Quetta.

Police said gunmen on a motorcycle killed the individual and fled away from the spot. There was no immediate claim of responsibility in both incidents.

The incidents occurred in the provincial capital, despite strict security and patrolling of police and paramilitary troops in all sensitive areas of the city.
