QUETTA, July 28: Train service between Quetta and rest of the country remained suspended for several hours after the main railway track was blown up in the Sariab area on Sunday morning.
Just about half an hour before the explosion, the Rawalpindi-bound Quetta Express passed through the area.
Police said that militants placed an explosive device on the main railway line near Musa Colony in the Sariab area which went off with a bang.
“A portion of the railway line was blown up in the powerful blast,” officials of the Pakistan Railways said, adding that the train service remained suspended for several hours.
Railways engineers and other staff repaired the track after getting security clearance and the train service was restored in the afternoon.
