QUETTA: At least eight people were injured when militants lobbed a hand-held bomb at a shop in Pakistan's port city of Gwadar on Monday evening.

Muhammad Aslam, a police official told Dawn.com that two armed militants on a motorcycle lobbed the bomb at the shop located in the town center of Balochistan’s Gwadar city.

He said eight people sitting inside the shop got injured and were quickly rushed towards a nearby hospital. “Condition of two injured is serious,” Aslam said while quoting doctors. He said militants targeted tailor master's shop.

The militants drove off the spot after the strike. Police and other law enforcers were quick at the scene. However, there was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

The attack is the latest in a series by militants operating in the area. Armed militants had also killed seven coast guards and injured another seven near Pak-Iran border in Gwadar district. The defunct Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) had claimed the responsibility for the attack.

The attack has come at a time when Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Malik Baloch has announced holding dialogue with militants soon after Eid ul Fitar.
