PESHAWAR, Aug 1: An unidentified young man was killed in a road mishap and two others were kidnapped in different areas of Peshawar on Thursday.

The man was hit by a speeding vehicle on G.T. Road in the limits of Gulbahar police station. He was shifted to Lady Reading Hospital but did not survive.

Police said that the body could not be identified and was sent to local mortuary for postmortem. They said that despite efforts the vehicle could not be traced.

Meanwhile, one Khushal Khan of Tauheed Colony was kidnapped by unidentified persons from Lady Reading Hospital. A complainant, Raees Khan, in his report at Khan Raziq police station stated that he had talked to his brother last time when he was in the custody of a group clad in police uniform.

“Khushal told me on phone that some people wearing police uniform were dragging him,” the complainant said and added that when he reached the police station his brother was not in their custody. The police have registered a case against unidentified kidnappers.

In another such case on Thursday, a 55-year-old man Mohammad Umar, resident of Yousufabad, was kidnapped by unidentified people from Daudzai area.

A complainant Habibullah Khan told Daudzai police that his father went out of his home in connection with some work, but did not return. “We searched for him in the area, but could not find him and now I am sure that someone might have kidnapped him,” he said. The police have registered the case.

VALUABLES SNATCHED: Unidentified armed men snatched a motorcycle, cash and cell phone set from a young man near Ameen Colony on Wednesday night.

One Safdar Gul of Zargarabad told Bana Mari police that he was on way to home when two men armed with pistols riding a bike held him and snatched his motorcycle, cash and phone set and escaped. Police have registered the case.

Meanwhile, fire erupted due to electricity short-circuit at a bank branch at Chowk Yadgar here, which created panic among shopkeepers in the vicinity. However, firefighters of Rescue Services 1122 soon reached and doused the fire.
