DADU, Aug 2: Various parts of Dadu district, including the Kachho and mountain areas and Wahi Pandhi, received heavy rains on Friday.

Over 15-foot-high water flowing from Nae Gaj Nullah inundated around 20,000 acres of barren land and communication between over 100 small and big villages and the taluka headquarters of Johi was disconnected.

“Heavy flow of water in Nae Gaj Nullah is developing pressure on the flood protective bund,” said an official.

Flood fighting material had been provided at various parts of the flood protective bund, the official added.

Talking to Dawn, executive engineer of the southern irrigation department of Dadu Habibullah Kaboor said that checkpoints were set up at every kilometre from Johi to the Manchhar Lake.
