As the countdown to Eid-ul-Fitr continues, the last few days of Ramazan are seeing a rapid increase in the flurry of activity within the fashion fraternity as designers launch Eid collections in Pakistan’s fashion capitals Karachi and Lahore, and as multi-brand stores host trunk shows to attract shoppers and fashionistas in search of good bargains.

Last week, Fashion Pakistan Lounge at the Dolmen Mall in Clifton, Karachi, held such an exhibition-cum-trunk show with choreography by Munaf Mansoor, featuring the work of both emerging and established designers who stock at the venue.

The show itself got off to a somewhat late start after iftar and offered a brief glimpse in what the store offers in terms of its festive stock.

The prêt to formal presentation featured pastels to strong, dark tones with whites, off-whites, indigo blue, strong grey and others in classic Eastern, fusion and flowy cuts to cater to a wide clientelle. Metallic embellishments, gota, diamantes, resham embroidery and more zari elements spruced up most of the outfits displayed by the models at the show while the fabric of choice was net, chiffon, georgette and muted silks.

Long kameezes worn over churidars were notably visible and seems to be the garment of choice this festive season with the duppatta also featuring frequently and prominently for a change. Contrasts such as vibrant red with blue and earthy brown and black on pristine white stood out during the presentation while the cuts remained sleek and simple.
