MIRPURKHAS, Aug 11: More than 500 acres of agriculture land have submerged in water and dozens of villages face threat of inundation in Jhuddo taluka after overflow of Dhoro Puran, a natural rainwater drain.

The Dhoro overflowed after water from a breach in Mirpurkhas Main Drain a few days ago near Digri entered the drain. Villagers have erected embankments around their settlements to save them from inundation in the event of flood.

They told journalists that they had complained to the irrigation department and its drainage division about rising level of the Dhoro but no official had taken any action to help them.

They demanded that high authorities should take steps to save their villages and land and immediately plug the breach in MMD.
