KARACHI: Pakistan’s friendly tour to Bangladesh was called off abruptly by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) due to political unrest in the capital, Dhaka.

The national squad was scheduled to play two friendlies on August 12 and 17 in preparation for the upcoming South Asian Football Federation Championship.

The BFF, however, requested the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) to reschedule the tour due to strikes in Dhaka planned for August 13 and 14.

PFF Secretary Ahmed Lodhi, talking to a local newspaper, said that the team will continue training in Lahore for the tour to Afghanistan scheduled for August 20.

“We can’t give them another date for this month,” Lodhi said. “We can have friendly matches with Bangladesh next year, maybe.”
