KHAIRPUR, Aug 13: A young man was shot dead in the Luqman area of Khairpur district late on Monday night.

The victim was identified as 22-year-old Sunny Masih. He had left his home situated in Masih Colony, Luqman area, on a motorcycle to go to the railway station when armed men, also riding motorcycles, opened fire on him within the jurisdiction of the B-Section police station and fled.

The victim was critically wounded and died while being taken to hospital. The police handed over the body to relatives after a post-mortem was completed.

On Tuesday morning, family and relatives of the deceased staged a protest demonstration near the Luqman railway gate to demand early arrest of the culprits. The police assured the relatives of the killers’ arrest.

Later, the B-Section police said while talking to the media, that they had arrested four suspects, three of them from the Masih community, and an investigation was under way. They believed that an old enmity might be the reason behind the murder.
