SIALKOT: A jawan of the Chenab Rangers (CR) suffered serious injuries when Indian forces opened fire in Charwah sector along the Working Boundary here on Tuesday, Pakistani officials said.

CR’s senior officials told reporters that Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) deployed at the Narayan Post fired at Pakistani villages in Charwah sector. Bullets hit Qadeer Ahmed, a CR jawan, injuring him seriously. He was admitted to Sialkot Combined Military Hospital. The Indian firing started at 7am and continued intermittently for two hours.

The Chenab Rangers retaliated in a befitting manner, silencing the Indian guns, they said, adding that the BSF used heavy machine-guns and fired shells.

The Indians again opened fire with heavy machine-guns and sniper guns at 12 noon which continued for 30 minutes.

The Pakistani officials said that Indian forces tried to target the Ashraf Shaheed Post.

They said that Indian forces also resorted to indiscriminate firing in the Bajwat sector.

Late on Monday, a Pakistani villager, Bashir Ahmed, was injured in Indian firing in Shakargarh sector.

AP adds: An Indian army commander on Tuesday accused Pakistani troops of firing through Monday night at two posts in the Mendhar sector along the Line of Control.
