ISLAMABAD, Aug 19: The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) led by its president retired Major Gen Mohammad Akram Sahi will do all-out efforts for the green shirts to feature in the hockey event of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, an official said on Monday.
Media director retired Col. Mujahidullah said the Sahi-headed POA would try its best for the hockey team’s participation in the Commonwealth Games.
“We have planned out two, three ways of how to make the team’s participation possible in the event,” he said here on Monday.
Last week, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) approached the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) for the national team’s participation in the 2014 Games but the CGF directed the PHF to proceed through the POA led by retired Lt Gen Syed Arif Hasan.
“The POA led by Akram Sahi is recognised by the government of Pakistan but the ex-POA chief Arif Hasan is creating hurdles for the sports movement in Pakistan,” Mujahidullah added.
Mujahidullah said that disciplinary action would be taken against those federations that were being routed by the POA led by Arif Hasan at several international events.—APP
