KARACHI, Aug 20: Ahad Javeri’s 26 went in vain as district East Greens humbled fancied district South Greens 51-41 to create quite a stir on the second day of the seventh National Bank of Pakistan Cup basketball tournament at the Arambagh floodlit court on Monday evening.

The victory revolves around Saifullah and Lawrence who scored 22 and 11 respectively as winners led 27-18 at half time. Ahad though shone with his brisk scoring but could not get enough support from team-mates.

In another match, district East Whites beat district West by barest margin 33-32 after leading 19-16 at breather.

Hammad and Ali shared twenty points amongst themselves for winners while Hammad and Kamil scored six points apiece for losers.

District Malir Greens whipped district Central Greens 39-33 in the group B encounter.

Bilal and Babar amassed 11 points each while Ali contributed nine for winners. Mahad scored 15 for losers.

At the outset, visiting Mirpurkhas suffered second successive defeat when they went down 28-61.

Bakhtiar top-scored with 16 followed by Hammad Aftab and Umer Cheema who scored eight points apiece for the winners who led 29-8 at half time. Haris scored 12 for the losers.
