MINGORA, Aug 20: Three more residents of Mingora city tested positive for dengue on Tuesday.

Earlier, six dengue cases were reported in Swat district.

According to the local health officials, dengue cases could be more than the reported ones as the mosquito-borne disease’s victims are reluctant to take treatment at government hospitals.

They said though the situation was under control, the people should take preventive measures against dengue.

When contacted, Dr Inam, focal person of dengue emergency cell at the district health office in Swat, confirmed the fresh dengue cases and said they included Faridullah of Rahimabad area, Munir of Nawai Kaley area and Nisar Ayub of Mingora city.

He said the three had been shifted to Saidu Sharif Hospital’s isolation ward and that their condition was stable.

Dr Inam said there could be dozens of dengue victims in the district, who preferred to keep their health problem secret.

Meanwhile, the administration has failed to act in line with its announcement to display banners in Mingora city for public awareness of dengue.

It had earlier announced to put up banners on the city’s major roads to apprise the people of the dangers to their health by dengue and ways and means to counter them.

Dawn on Tuesday visited different roads of the city but found not a single banner.
