LAHORE: Pakistan Test and ODI captain Misbah-ul-Haq on Thursday expressed his desire to feature in the upcoming T20 Champions League, saying that his team Faisalabad Wolves would like to play there if given a chance.

The Champions League T20 is scheduled to be held in India next month.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday, Misbah, who is to leave for Zimbabwe on Friday to lead the team in the upcoming ODI and Test series, said that he believed that politics should be separated from sports.

It is to be noted that tension between Pakistan and India has risen due to incidents on the Line of Control which may create hurdles in a smooth departure of a team from Pakistan to India.

The Test captain further said that if he got an ‘opportunity,’ he would like to take his Faisalabad Wolves side to India for the T20 Champions League.

To a question about the ongoing tour of Zimbabwe, he said: “Facing lower-ranked teams is also a test for any higher-ranked side because victory against them brings nothing but a defeat usually earns more criticism.”

Answering another question about the newly-appointed manager Moin Khan’s claims that he would have also a say in team affairs during the Zimbabwe tour, Misbah said that the Pakistan Cricket Board had given him the power in question, adding that he held Moin in high esteem as a former Test cricketer as well as captain.

Moreover, the ODI captain reiterated that he won’t play T20 cricket for Pakistan since Mohammad Hafeez was doing well as now Pakistan were on the verge of becoming No.1 in that format.
