KARACHI, Aug 26: A head constable was shot dead by motorcycle-riding assailants in a targeted attack in Orangi Town on Monday, said police.
They added that Chaudhry Sajjad, 40, was driving to the Orangi police station from his home near Qatar Hospital on a motorcycle when two armed motorcyclists targeted him near Banaras Chowk.
He sustained four bullet wounds on different parts of the body and was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
The murder was a targeted killing, said SHO of the Orangi Town police station Ghulam Nabi Afridi.
He said the victim, father of four, originally hailing from Jhelum, Punjab, was posted in the investigation wing of police.
Man killed near Aziz Bhatti Park
A man was shot dead by motorcycle-riding attackers in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Monday morning, according to the Aziz Bhatti police.
Qamar Sajjad, 59, left his residence in Block 13-D-1 of Gulshan-i-Iqbal for his office in a car. When he took a turn under the overhead bridge near NIPA, four gunmen riding two motorcycles sprayed him with bullets and fled, said police.
Seven bullets hit him on different parts of the body and he died instantly, said police.
In-charge SHO of the Aziz Bhatti police station Ghulam Mustafa said the victim was the chief accountant in a consultancy firm in Clifton. The motive for the murder could not be ascertained immediately, he said.
