ATTOCK, Aug 30: The post of district Police officer (DPO) of Attock district has been lying vacant since August 18 when DPO Abdul Kadir Qamar was transferred by the Establishment Division.

The outgoing DPO was appointed as Chief Security officer (CSO) of Supreme Court in Islamabadtwo weeks back.

The transfer of Mr Kadir by the federal government was unexpected for the Punjab government, Initially it was not ready to relieve the DPO immediately as he had been appointed as DPO Attock just four months back in April, sources disclosed.

However the Mr Kadir had relinquished his charge very next day on August 19 and assumed his new job, sources said.

Since then, the district police is without the DPO.

However the SP Investigation Attock Abbass Majeed Khan Marwat is running the show with his limited powers.
