CHITRAL, Sept 3: A girl and boy, both mentally disturbed, committed suicide in two localities of Garam Chashma valley, police claimed.
Spokesman for Chitral police inspector Buzurguddin told Dawn on Tuesday that in the first incident one Maqsud Bibi of Roi village jumped into the local river and ended her life. Her body was later retrieved from water and buried in the local graveyard.
In the second incident, a young boy Shaukat Hussain allegedly shot himself dead inside his room.
The spokesman, however, said that the local police were investigation both the incidents under Section 174 of the CrPC. He said that the fresh incident of suicide had raised the number of girls committing suicide to 10 during last two weeks.
LOWARI TUNNEL: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Chitral, has lauded the party leadership for allocating funds for completion of the Lowari tunnel project out of its provincial budget.
Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, the PTI leaders, including Sajjad Hussain, Karam Elahi and Altaf Gohar, said that the project had been abandoned by the previous Pakistan People’s Party-led federal government when the already allocated funds for the project were diverted to other areas.
They said that PTI chief Imran Khan had made a promise with the people of Chitral during his visit last year to complete the tunnel project, if voted to power, and it was encouraging for the party workers that their leader had fulfilled the promise.
They said that the PTI workers were united under the leadership of Imran Khan.
