LAHORE, Sept 4: A traffic warden was suspended from service for stopping a school van at Muslim Town Mor in violation of road discipline and forcibly taking it to the Muslim Town police station on Wednesday.Chief Traffic Officer Sohail Chauhdry told Dawn that warden Usman stopped the school van for speeding and asked the driver to produce registration book.

The driver failed to produce his license and the registration book. After an argument with the driver, the warden forcibly took the van to the police station.

The CTO said the duty officer after realising the sensitivity of the matter suggested the warden to let the van go as school girls were sitting in it, but the warden insisted for impounding it and even didn’t make alternative arrangement for the transportation of girls.Local police brought the matter to the notice of the CTO who ordered the circle DSP to suspend the warden and issue a show-cause notice to his senior warden in-charge.
