PESHAWAR, Sept 4: A non-governmental organisation plans to establish education and medical complex in Mardan district to provide free healthcare and education facilities to poor and deserving people, especially women.
Speaking at a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, Chuadhry Qamar Raza Randhawa, chief executive of National Commission for Interfaith Harmony and Human Rights Pakistan (NCIHP), said his organisation was focusing on promoting interfaith harmony among different religious sects.
He said the organisation had been mandated to promote religious tolerance, peace, interfaith harmony and respect for all religions around the globe along with providing relief and welfare activities to people. “An education and medical complex will be set up in Mardan as a pilot project,” he said.
Mr Randhawa said the education complex would provide education specifically to women from Malakand division, Peshawar, Swat and rest of the province. “The medical complex will ensure better healthcare facilities,” he said.
The NGO official said the country was facing serious challenges at national and international level which can be addressed through unity and religious harmony. “Interfaith harmony is important for peaceful and stable Pakistan,” he said, adding that promoting peace and brotherhood to protect integrity, solidarity and independence of Pakistan were need of the hour.
He said religious scholars from different schools of thought had supported the agenda of the organisation.
On the occasion, Mr Randhawa announced office-bearers of the organisation for Peshawar division and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
