KARACHI, Sept 9: Aqeel Khan, Jalil Khan and Khalid Ali Nazar Khan won their respective second-round matches with ease to qualify for the quarter-finals in the Super Series Ranking Tennis Championship at Karachi Gymkhana Hartcourts here on Monday.

Top seed Aqeel was in ruthless touch as he routed Malik Hamza while dropping a single game in the process. Aqeel displayed powerful strokes and serves to grab the first set 6-0 but lost a single game in the second set before storming into the last-eight phase.

Jalil, Aqeel’s younger brother, dropped two games before overpowering Sahibzada Mohammad Ali 6-1, 6-1. Khalid Ali Nazar faced some resistance from Anas Khan before winning the battle 6-3, 6-3 to secure a place in the quarter-finals.

In the ladies singles first round, Neha Khan and Rida Khan won their matches in contrasting fashion.

Neha defeated Kinza Ghanchi in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 whereas Rida recovered after losing the opening set to overwhelm Zopash Agha 4-6, 6-1, 10-7.

First round: Mohammad Manzar bt Nawab Muzaffar 6-0, 6-1; Sahibazada Mohammad Ali bt Abdullah Khan 6-3, 3-0 – retired.

Ladies singles:
