WE LIVE on a planet which is full of strange, beautiful and awe-inspiring things. A world where, as the saying goes, “wonders never cease”. For those of us interested in learning or exploring its many hidden secrets, there is a never-ending list of mind-boggling stuff from all over the world. But what is required to delve into the dark and hidden secrets is an open mind, even though it sounds confusing and yes it is.

I mean what does dark and hidden have to do with open mindedness? But it is only with an open mind that we can take these interesting phenomena into our stride, and then get on with our daily lives no matter how intrigued we are.

The reason for preparing you guys before we start on today’s mystery is that there are many options to this strange and scary tale. So keep an open mind and read on.

Okay, so this is how it all started. A professional truck driver, by the name of Steve Lee, had visited the beautiful Black Forest area in Colorado Springs, USA, and fell in love with its lovely scenery. His family was from Louisiana but he had set his heart and mind on settling in Colorado Springs. While looking for a place to buy, he and his wife, Beth, came upon a property in 1991 that they immediately liked.

It was a log house or “cabin” on a huge land of five acres. Steve, Beth and their two children moved into the house in 1992, not knowing what the place had in store for them. The previous owner did not tell them about what he had seen or experienced in the house. The family settled down, happy that at last they had found their dream home. What followed was hardly a dream, but more of a nightmare.

Everything that we read or see about haunted places started to occur. Lights went on and off, and they could smell strange chemicals, which made it hard to breathe when no such chemicals were in the house.

Beth Lee stated in a book titled, Haunted Places: The National Directory, “One day we came home and it was like the Fourth of July in our living room and bedroom. We had all kinds of lights flashing through, and it sounded like people stomping across the roof. We would lay in bed at night and hear chains rattling. One night we woke up and heard orchestra music. Strange things started happening every day.”

Needless to say that the family began to seek help from all kinds of experts in supernatural phenomena from all over the country — paranormal experts, technicians and, as one might say, ghostbusters.

Steve installed the most expensive camera equipment available to record what went on in all the rooms 24 hours a day. The Sheriff Department suspected that someone was breaking into the house and possibly trying to scare off the residents thus more surveillance cameras by private detectives were also installed, including very expensive security alarms, etc.

Interestingly, the images recorded by various cameras and monitors showed strange orbs of lights streaking across space, forming faces in the mirror in one room, and investigators and psychics also felt spiritual presences. Steve sent the pictures and unique images to Fate magazine, and the photos were published in the issue of November 1994.

Then the crew of the television show Sightings was brought in to help them solve the mystery. When they recorded stuff on their various technical equipment and took it back to examine the recordings to make sure it was not all a hoax, they came to the conclusion that most of the streaks of light and images clouding the mirror could not have been faked.

So what was this place? A typically haunted mansion of sorts? Not really, according to some psychics and people dealing in metaphysical phenomenon.

A shaman from the Hopi tribe told the authorities and residents that the property was located on something called a “Rainbow Vortex”. Now what might that be, you may ask?

Simply put, if ‘simple’ can be applied to this complex issue here, it is a gateway between the living and the dead worlds — a place where the laws of physics allow the dead to pass into the living world and where the living can connect with the dead. And adding to that another researcher from the same field said the same thing and said that there were only three known locations in the world. The other two vortexes are in Arizona and London.

At first the family was not ready to believe the vortex or gateway theory, but then the psychics explained that the ghostly appearance of a dog recently, was of the dog the family owned and who had died while they were here.

Then another interesting paranormal assumption was made. While concentrating on the chemical smells that filled the house, the paranormal researcher mentioned the name ‘Howard’. This made Steve and his wife sit back in wonder. It had so happened that they had an old friend whose son had known to have committed suicide by taking some lethal drugs while working as a chemist.

The psychic claimed that the son was here to tell his father that he was murdered and did not kill himself. Steve knew that there was no way the researcher could have known about their friend Howard and his son. But then there is a lot of doubt when a place is labelled as a spiritual vortex.

Steve also suspects another explanation that has nothing to do with the spiritual world. He told reporters that he felt that their property was near a government facility where top-secret experiments or projects were going on and that security personnel guarded the nearby area. He felt that the whole scenario was being carried out as an experiment in ‘mind control’ or whatever one may want to call it.

Last, but not least, the Lee family has put up the property for sale. Any buyers?
