KARACHI, Sept 13: Hania Naveed swept aside Sindh’s No 1 Neha Khan in straight sets to clinch the ladies singles crown in the Sindh ranking tennis championship at the Karachi Gymkhana synthetic court on Friday.

Hania powered to a magnificent 6-1, 6-1 victory over her opponent in the final to add another title in her cap.

Meanwhile, Raza Sawani produced an awesome performance when he toppled Sindh No 1 Ibrahim Iltifat 6-3, 6-4 to set a date with Malik Hamza in the juniors’ under-17 final. Hamza also pulled of a upset while getting the better of Dawar Rehan, who is third in STA rankings, 6-2, 6-2 in the other semi-final.

The event concludes on Saturday.

Juniors’ under-17 singles:

Semi-finals: Raza Sawani bt Ibrahim Iltifat 6-3, 6-4; Malik Hamza bt Dawar Rehan 6-2, 6-2.

Ladies singles:

Final: Hania Naveed bt Neha Khan 6-1, 6-1.

Under-15 singles:

Quarter-final: Hassan Farooq bt Nazif Ahmed 6-2, 6-4.

Under-13 singles: Semi-final: Nouman Aftab bt Rayyan Jawad 6-4, 3-6, 10-2.

Under-11 singles:

Semi-finals: Rayyan Jawad bt Amin Shafi 8-6; Mohammad Dada bt Asheesh Kumar 8-3.—Sports Correspondent
