KARACHI, Sept 13: The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation (PBSF) will strike a deal with the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) on Saturday for establishing a snooker academy aimed at promoting the game in the province.

“A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between the PBSF and the UAF in a ceremony which takes place at the varsity on Saturday,” the PBSF president Alamgir Shaikh told Dawn from Faisalabad on Friday.

Alamgir will sign the MoU on behalf of the PBSF while vice-chancellor Dr. Iqrar Ahmed Khan will be the signatory for UAF.

Alamgir said the PBSF had donated two brand new tables and accessories to the varsity.

Minister for Inter-provincial Co-ordination (IPC), Mian Riaz Hussain Rabbani, top hierarchy of the Pakistan Sports Board and the Punjab Sports Board together with PBSF secretary Munawwar Hussain Shaikh are expected to attend the ceremony.

The PBSF had invited all Punjab players including the reigning world amateur snooker champion, Mohammad Asif who is a native of Faisalabad, at the ceremony. It is pertinent to mention that eight cueists from Punjab are among the top 10 in the latest national rankings which speaks of games popularity in the province.
