THIS refers to the federal government’s recent plan to construct a new Islamabad city across Margalla Hills and link the old and new Islamabad through a road tunnel. The project is estimated at $12 billion.
It is a serious issue and the government should undergo a detailed study before launching it, otherwise it could turn into another scam like new Islamabad airport.
The other point to be taken into account should be the environmental hazard caused by the huge construction as it would deeply affect the capital’s landscape. SAJJAD HAIDER Islamabad

First they should revive the status of Jinnah International Airport. It nees to be brought to the status of at least all the regional airports like Dubai,Abu Dhabi, Delhi and Mumbai. Before th intrusion of Talibans and their allies Karachi excelled among the above mentioned airports.
More traffics should be entertained with open sky policy and proper security. We have to bring back the glamour of Karachi International Airport.

Postpone building that airport and build schools instead!
$12 billions will go a long way in promoting education in the country which is an acute emergency and requires more serous action than that airport.
