HYDERABAD, Sept 20: Hyderabad won the Regional Inter-district (Senior) cricket tournament for the fourth time in a row at the Niaz Stadium, beating Shaheed Benazirabad by 28 runs, thanks to fine all-round performance by Mir Ali on Thursday.

Benazirabad had won the toss and invited hosts to bat first. Hyderabad scored 203 in 74.3 overs with Mir Ali scoring a fine 82 with the help of eight boundaries and three sixes. Babar Khan hit a quickfire 32.

Shahzad Haider bowled well and captured 4-44 while Jawad Ali and Arif Baloch bagged three wickets each, conceding 88 and 28 runs respectively.

In reply, the visitors were bowled out for just 146 in 48.1 overs. Jawad Ali scored 35 while Shahzad Ali made 30.

Farhan Ayub grabbed 4-35 and Mir Ali 3-57 for Hyderabad.

In their second innings Hyderabad scored 246 in 89.4 overs with Shoaib Laghari scoring a resolute 75 and Faisal Athar contributing 55. Leghari’s innings was laced with 10 boundaries and one six. Athar also hit ten boundaries. Jawad Ali bagged 4-69 and Mansoor Rawal captured two wickets.

In reply, Shaheed Benazirabad batsmen played with a lot of flair and spirit but fell short by 28 runs as they were bowled out for 275 in 55.5 overs.

Unbeaten Siraj Ahmed scored 97 with seven boundaries and two sixes off just 105 balls. Javed Mari made a fine 33. Nasir Awais took 3-88 and Mir Ali 2-50.—M. Hussain Khan
