Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were Ph.D. students at Stanford University. It was incorporated by them as a privately held company on September 4, 1998. The corporation has been estimated to run more than one million servers in data centers around the world and to process over one billion search requests and about 24 petabytes of user-generated data each day.
