PESHAWAR, Oct 5: Police on Saturday foiled a sabotage attempt by defusing an improvised explosive device planted near the army flats near Gulberg here.

An official said that a local informer had called police that a suspected shopping bag was lying near the railway track. He said the police rushed to the spot and evacuated the people from the area to avert any untoward incident.

Afterwards, the bomb disposal unit personnel were called in who defused the bomb through water charger, said the official, adding that police used to patrol the area where nomad families had also set up their tents and children used to roam the streets.
